Aughey O’Flaherty Architects: Lake House

[slideshow_deploy id=’1589′]

Date: 22.03.14

Time: 12:00

Venue: 6 Claremont Rd., Howth, Co. Dublin (map)

This project is a new house by the sea on the north side of Howth peninsula. The site has little actual ground. It is bounded by the dunes of the beach to the north and contains a large lake to the south. There are wonderful views of Lambay Island and Ireland’s Eye. The house is elevated to comply with Fingal’s flood management policy. Its form is dictated by the available ground and by the site restrictions: it is pitched to minimize the visual impact from the beach and is cranked to avail of the views. Within, the design relates to the path of the sun from east to west. The result is a raised house with great views and lots of light.
