Sean Treacy House - Paul Keogh Architects

Site Visit: Buckingham St. Dublin 1. April 16 2011, 11:00am

Dublin City Councils Sean Treacy house redevelopment is a major element of the North Eastern Inner City Integrated Area Plan. The project involved the demolition of the existing 1960's flat blocks, and their replacement with a new mixed housing development comprising of own door houses, duplexes and apartments.

The scheme contains 52 units and a local community facility. It is organised around a semi-private raised courtyard, built above a single level of car parking. The courtyard is enclosed by three and four story duplex blocks and six storeys onto Buckingham St.

PKA's scheme prioritised urban design and residential amenity; the scheme completes the streetscape between Summerhill and Empress Place; the courtyard - and each unit's private outdoor space - contributes to the creation of a high level of residential amenity for the residents.
