Menos é Mais Arquitectos is the office created in Oporto in 1994 by Francisco Vieira de Campos and Cristina Guedes.
Both graduated from Oporto School (FAUP), Francisco Vieira de Campos worked with Eduardo Souto de Moura and Cristina Guedes with Álvaro Siza. They both teach, FVC (FAUP) and CG (FAULP), and have been invited for the final critics at Mendrisio Architecture Academy and ETH Zurich, Switzerland and dARQ-FCTUC, Coimbra, Portugal.
Their main works are programmatic responses related to specific contexts: Quinta do Vallado Winnery and Hotel in Douro, Gaia Cablecar and Archipelago Contemporary Art Centre in Azores. Their work has been been distinguished with various awards: Mies van der Rohe Award shortlist 2015, 2011 and 2009, Best Of Wine Tourism 2013 Award, Best Private Architectural Project at Construir Prize 2012, Winning project of the VIII Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (VIII BIAU), Premis FAD finalist 2013, 2012 and 2002, honourable mention at the Douro Architecture Award 2010/2011, IHRU Award of Construction and Rehabilitation 2008 and Secil Award shortlist 2012, 2008 and 2006. They have been invited for international lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibits at Ayamonte, Barcelona, Bochum, Cádiz, Dubrovnik, Lisbon, Logroño, Mantua, Milan, Montevideo, Nancy, Napoles, New York, Oporto,Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, São Paulo,Valencia, Venice, Vienna, Washington, Zagreb and recently for the 15th Biennale di Venezia, Reporting From the Front. They have also taken part in both national and international award juries, Cristina Guedes acted as Commissary of Portugal at the IX BIAU New geographies.
