The award-winning Robbrecht & Daem architecten agency was founded in 1975 by Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem and has completed a diverse range of projects over a period of more than 30 years. The theme throughout their work is the relationship that they maintain between their architectural designs and the visual arts. They have also designed buildings to be used for performing arts and music.
Robbrecht and Daem architecten’s work aims to establish a very contemporary and humane position, with their constructions making statements in a broad cultural context of science and art.
Paul Robbrecht spoke of the Vlaams Bouwmester architectural procurement system that has produced public works of great known over the last few decades. Paul presented a number of unrealised Robbrecht & Daem projects, gave insight into how their unique practice operates and how they live and work. Paul presented their recently realised Het Huis in Antwerp, a garden pavilion of the work of artist Thomas Schlulte.
