The AAI is proud to present the annual AAI Critic’s Lecture, by Dr Adrian Lahoud, Chair of the Jury for the 2024 AAI Awards
He has worked as a Research fellow on the Forensic Architecture ERC grant at Goldsmiths as part of their collaboration with Amnesty International on the Gaza platform. Through private practice and teaching, Lahoud explores the disputed, confliced and often paradoxical transformation of cities. His research work is focused on architecture and urbanism in the global south.
Often writing on climate change and colonialism, Lahoud is developing work on anthropological understandings of shelter and dwelling. His doctoral dissertation, The Problem of Scale: The City, the Territory, the Planetary, explores how spatial problems are structured using the concept of scale.
