Inis Mór’s patwork of stone walls in some senses has been in place for centuries. However, they are dynamic, shifting constructions; stones fall, openings are added, boundaries often changing. The annual act of repairing the lace walls is a mundane ritual carried out by farmers, neighbours and friends.
