Description
The name “Jerusalem” comes from the Semitic letters ‘yry’ which means ‘to lay’ a cornerstone or ‘foundation’ for the pagan god “Shalem”.
Shalem was the ‘god of dusk’ in the Canaanite religion, whose name is based on the same Semitic root as the Hebrew word “”Shalom”.
Shalom in Hebrew means ‘peace’ and is also related to the Arabic word for peace “Salam”.
